APTIM Co-Op/Student Intern (Environmental Science) in LaPlace, Louisiana

Job Summary:

Student Intern needed to perform a variety of scientific work for the Coastwide Reference Monitoring System program from June through August.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Communicates information, asks questions and checks for understanding.

  • 75% field work. 25% office work.

  • Work in a cooperative small group setting with various employees at various levels, also operating under HSE guidelines. A typical office day could include processing and reveiwing scientific data using a computer at a desk, preparing for subsequent field days, serving as base of operations for field crews, and ordering supplies.

  • Collection and interpretation/evaluation of scientific wetland data.

  • Operation of data collection equipment (Hydrographic, Soil Accretion, and Vegetation).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite,

  • Boating, vegetation identification, hydrology and data analysis experience desired.

  • Must have a valid drivers license and be able to drive a 4x4 vehicle.

  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions on the field (Work in hot/cold environments, inclement weather).

  • Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds individually and possibly heavier items as part of a team. Must comply to HSE guidelines.
