WSP is currently seeking an experienced Architectural Inspector to join our Construction Services team in New Orleans supporting the New Orleans North Terminal Project. This person will work under the supervision of a professional resident engineer performing construction inspection duties per contract plans, specifications, change orders, and job specific instructions. This position is contingent upon client approval.

The Architectural Inspector conducts inspections to confirm Contractor’s compliance with the contract documents and building codes, and to monitor the Contractor’s testing/commissioning and turnover activities regarding applicable Architectural Work.

Experience should include detailed architectural inspection for Interior and Exterior Architectural Systems and related components:

  • Interior and Exterior Framing and Building Enclosure, Wall/Ceiling and Openings Assemblies, Thermal, Moisture and Fire Protection, Decorative Systems, Finishes and Millwork, and Miscellaneous Auxiliary and other Components, etc...

  • Specialties and Furnishings and related components

In addition, the Architectural Inspector will be expected to:

  • Become familiar with the pertinent Contract Documents (Drawings and Specifications, Designer Supplemental Instructions (DSI’s), Submittals, Shop Drawings, etc.) and applicable Building Codes to inspect for adherence and compliance by the Contractor:

  • Inspect construction work for compliance with contract plans, specifications, codes, and regulations

  • Inspect Interior and Exterior Architectural Systems

  • Inspect Specialties and Furnishings

  • Prepare Inspection reports

  • Observe testing and commissioning

  • Document and track open items for Architectural Systems construction

  • Verification of Punch List completion

  • Coordinate contractor and user group testing

  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications

  • Provide field measurements and quantity reports

  • Verify Contractor’s progress payment for Architectural Systems

  • Apply a thorough knowledge of building construction to remedy issues as they arise

  • Research applicable codes

  • Refer complaints to the appropriate parties for follow-up

  • Perform other designated duties

  • Develop professional working relationships with the responsible individuals from the Contractor, Subcontractors, Sub-subcontractors, other Program Manager Team inspectors and QA/QC individuals, etc.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the Inspection of Interior and Exterior Architectural Systems and related components on large and complex projects and may involve design, installation, operation, repair, or testing of Architectural Systems

  • The ability to work shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed

  • The ability to perform physical activities required for the role which include: climbing or descending ladders and stairs; standing for extended periods of time; kneeling or crouching to verify information on systems and equipment during inspections; navigating narrow walkways, uneven surfaces.

  • Ability to withstand exposure to various outdoor environment conditions and weather

  • Current, valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience related to roofing inspection or terrazzo flooring is a plus
