This position is located at Marine Forces Reserve in New Orleans, LA (Algiers). Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Financial Technician for MCCS.

PLEASE NOTE - If selected, you must meet the following conditions:

Serve a one year probationary period (unless you have previously satisified this requirement)

Males born after December 31,1959 must have registered with the Selective Service

Complete a "Declaration of Federal Employment" (OF-306) to determine suitability for Federal employment

Serves as the Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) Marine Corps Community Services(MCCS) Financial Technician. Works under the direct supervision of the MCCS Budget Analyst, with guidance from the Director, MCCS. Performs a variety of clerical and technical work in support of budget analysis and administration. Uses practical understanding and skill to apply administrative rules, regulations and procedures associated with recording, reporting, processing and keeping track of budgetary transactions such as: credits, receipts, transfers, allotments, withdrawals, obligations or outlay of funds. Compiles, consolidates, checks and arranges funding data in requests to cover projected operating expenses. Provides budget input and preparation, makes accounting entries, and performs administrative duties.

Performs a wide variety of duties connected with the formulation and execution of individual cost center budgets for MARFORRES MCCS. Reconciles official reports for the MCCS Accounting System and the Standard Accounting and Budget Reporting System (SABRS). Ensures compliance and coordination with the Comptroller area and Regional Contracting Office. Provides procurement support to the MCCS Director and program managers. Performs administrative functions to include preparing reports and correspondence for management briefings, and internal and external written correspondence.

Analyzes accounting operations to identify needs, opportunities and deficiencies to operate more effectively. Meets with MCCS Program Managers, the Director, and Financial Analyst informally and formally to hear and resolve issues and problems regarding expenses and/or budget issues. Reviews travel orders and contracts. Prepares and reviews documentation and records relating to MCCS accounting entries.

Provides superior customer service with an emphasis on courtesy. Provides prompt and accurate responses to inquiries from the field, to include co-employees, uniformed service members, family members and volunteers involved with MCCS programs. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.

Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention or sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned and may be required to travel.

Sufficient knowledge of the structure and mission of Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES). Experience and knowledge of accepted budget and accounting principles. Ability to deal effectively with functional program managers. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of APF and NAF Budget procedures. Proficiency in SABRS Wide Areas Work Flow (WAW); Defense Travel System (DTS); PrBuilder; Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Electronic Document Access (EDA); and Memorandum Fiscal Services (MFS) desired. Ability to train in all applicable accounting systems utilized by the U. S. Marine Corps. Flexibility and adaptability to constantly changing priorities.
