Lockheed Martin Manufacturing Technical Support in New Orleans, Louisiana
Employee will perform as a subject matter expert in development and processing activities in manufacturing areas in support of the Space Launch System Components and Technical services contract at the Michoud assembly facility. These areas include, application of primer and foam on the core stage Forward Skirt, (FS), the Intertank, (IT), and the Engine Section, (ES) in cell G of building 114, Internal Cleaning of the core stage LH2 and LO2 tanks in cell E of building 110, External cleaning and priming of the LH2 and LO2 tanks in cell P of building 131, foam application to the core stage LH2 and LO2 tanks in cell N of building 131 and installation of test instrumentation in several of the manufacturing area, manual foam closeout application of vehicle major splice areas and component foam close out in several areas of the manufacturing area.
Basic Qualifications Position requires a variety of skills to support the Space Launch System Program development. Candidate must possess at least ten years experience in the required skills listed below to be considered a subject matter expert, candidate will be chosen to achieve a mix of all skills. Aerospace priming of cyrogenic and non-cyrogenic structures. Work from customer specifications with Manufacturing and Processes engineering and technicians in development activities to establish process parameters and in performance of automated priming. Work from customer specifications with Manufacturing and Processes engineering and technicians in development activities to establish process parameters and in performance of manual priming using HVLP spray guns and air brushes. SME will have knowledge of mixing of primer, setup of spray systems, cleaning and maintenance of automated and manual spray systems. Aerospace Application of Thermal Protection System (TPS) Foam Work from customer specifications with Manufacturing and Processes engineering and technicians in development activities to establish process parameters and in performance of automated foam application. Work from customer specifications with Manufacturing and Processes engineering and technicians in development activities to establish process parameters and in performance of manual foam application. SME will have knowledge of loading of foam components, setup, cleaning and maintenance of automated and manual application systems. Internal Clean and Corrosion Abatement SME will have a general understanding of tooling assembly and handling and transportation activities. SME will direct the installation/removal of the wash probes into the LO2 and LH2 tanks, (probes are lifted into place via an overhead crane and mechanically connected). SME will direct the automated wash activities and coordinate lab testing to ensure cleaning and abatement requirements are achieved. Installation and Checkout of Test Instrumentation Work from customer specifications to plan and direct installation of test instrumentation,(strain gauges and thermocouples) onto structural qualification articles. Process involves vacuum bonding of gauges, wire bonding, connector installation, test and checkout.
Desired skills Knowledge and experience utilizing general shop equipment such as overhead cranes, personnel lifts, torque wrenches, etc. SME will develop training requirements and administer on the job training of technicians. SME will serve as the focal point for creating and modifying process planning, operation manuals and maintenance plans.
