Training and Development
- The Certification Course Instructor provides support services to internal/external customers under direct supervision of the Director, Training and Development or designee, and indirectly under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, with latitude for independent decision making. The Certification Course Instructor teaches and evaluates certification training programs, specifically American Heart Association (BLS, ACLS, PALS), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) classes. This position provides educational and development services to both professional and non-professional staff in order to maintain and develop competency and certification. Adheres to organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates behavior appropriate to a professional role model. Instructor for American Heart Association courses (Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Schedules and instructs classes as needed by the organization. Performs required recordkeeping duties to document class attendance and learner completions. Provides an appropriate climate for learning and facilitates the adult learning process by developing, planning, and presenting certification educational activities that directly fosters the development and maintenance of staff competence. Assists learners to identify both their learning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet those needs while fostering a positive attitude about the benefits and opportunities of learning. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning, delivering, and managing certification classes. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the organization. Preferred: Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructor Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) Instructor, American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS course director or regional faculty. Required: Current American Heart Association instructor status for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Has knowledge of relevant educational content and appropriate methods of delivery and the ability to develop and facilitate relevant and effective education for adult learners in a culturally diverse learning environment. Preferred: Instructor status for Crisis Prevention Intervention and/or Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP). Required: Instructor certification through American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
